Poinsettia – Lewis mite injury (close up)

close up of Lewis mite injury
Lewis mite has been observed on poinsettias over the last several years. They are a little smaller than twospotted spider mites and lack the two distinct green spots. The injury on poinsettia leaves is a very fine stippling, giving an overall effect similar to nitrogen deficiency. Check with your extension specialist on current control options since not all miticides are equally effective.
